To be able to understand the energetics students will need to have a basic understanding of various Ayurvedic concepts. The Ayurvedic Dosha clock will be covered together with the various seasons and their Doshic correspondences. The following is a brief overview of what will be covered in this module:

  • The seven Dhatus (tissues of the body)
  • The concept of Ojas, Tejas and Prana
  • The concept of Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic
  • Dosha times of day
  • Seasonal influences and diet
  • Ayurvedic food energetics:
    • Hot and cold
    • The six tastes
    • The five elements and how they relate to the tastes
    • Virya and Vipaka
    • Faulty food combinations
    • Importance of Agni
    • Production of Ama
    • Diets to balance the three Dosha
